10 Ways I Spend My Summer as an Introverted Geek Entrepreneur

You're in for a treat with this blog post. It's been a long while since I was super open about my life and vulnerable about what I'm up to. You're about to get a pretty exclusive look at how I've spent my past few months, and maybe some inspiration for the last half of your summer if you're getting bored! Keep reading on and please don't judge me too hard for my inevitable chaos!
Making Cosplays

I figured we'd start with an easy one. Like, if you're surprised by this one, you're in for a real treat reading this. If you're new here or need a refresher, in 2020 I challenged myself to make 1 new cosplay every single day. That was 366 (leap year, yo) cosplays each with photos and tiktoks, and several characters were turned into spicy sets. So it was a ton of work and 2021 we needed to take a chill pill. What did that entail? Oh just a brand new 24 hour challenge EVERY SINGLE MONTH. On top of my regular content AND my zodiac series!

It's been a busy year, filled with hopes and fails and disasters, but we're trying!! I share all my work in progress and behind the scenes content on The Bree Hive which is just a private Instagram with over 500 posts and options to upgrade to see the spicy stuff! If you end up liking this blog post, I highly recommend you check it out. I'm very real and vulnerable and chaotic on that Instagram. Big trust with my lil fam there.

Shopping Shein

This one is always a bit controversial, but it's no secret I shop and get new stuff nearly monthly. It's a business expense babyyyyy. As much as I understand the problems with fast fashion, I am just a poor person just trying to look her best while pissing off strangers by how I look.

Even though Shein is still super cheap, I literally beeline to the discount section and spend approximately three hours opening new tabs of clothes I might like up to like a max of $12 per item. Then I spend another 40 minutes finding sizes, making final decisions and adding to cart. Then I spend another 20 minutes deciding if I really want to spend $100 today or not. I typically get it down to $50 with a coupon (ALWAYS USE A COUPON) and then check out. It's a whole process but I have it down to a science, and look how cute all these fits are?!
Day Drinking

This is a fun one you can even do by yourself! LOL, while far more entertaining with friends, or your mom, it can be done. Typical day drinking days turn into living room dance parties, or therapy sessions (keep reading for those). The best part is just not knowing - or remembering, what might happen! I had a few fun days of drinking with some very special Snapchat memories recorded.

Honestly, some days just need an escape and that's okay! Remember to be responsible while having your fun.

Playing Free Online Games

Everyone plays phone games, or has little things they do to pass the time. I for whatever reason, find mysterious sites, little hidden gems to play super simple games on. My little secret of the summer has been playing this LSP game on Plays.Org which is basically just a huge dance battle but all you have to do is shake your mouse around. I have, without guilt, sat and played this game for THREE HOURS in a single sitting. It's addicting, and I hyperfixate a lot so it's pretty easy to do. Confession: I literally have the page bookmarked on my browser ok.

Anyways, please go play it and we can share high scores?? Also I don't want to be the only one playing random free online games all summer because I'm poor LOL. To be fair, they have like an unlimited supply of games so if LSP isn't your jam (lol you're wrong but ok) then you can find something suited for you. Literally, scroll to the bottom of the website and you can choose categories and themes and there's SO MANY. If you find one you like, send it to me so we can compete. Heheh...
Pretending to Have Hot Girl Summer

I announced in the spring I would be having a very specific dino themed hot girl summer, and while the dino theme prevailed, the hot girl summer did not. Although I still swipe on Tinder quite frequently, I haven't met anyone new in a while. SOOOO turns out, I'm not built for no strings attached. GIMME DEM STRINGSSSS... I caught feels for the very first 'arrangement' I had.

Look, I tried. I actually met up with and engaged with several partners, had some really cute date nights too. It was nice to finally be over my ex and exploring new possibilities. BUT... I realized I wasn't swiping right on anyone anymore and it wasn't hard to realize why. Oops! The secret is out now, Bree has feelings and isn't a robotic bitch. Sorry to rip away the glamour! Now don't tell anybody OR ELSE.

Living Room Dance Parties

This is mostly thanks to TikTok. I'll get obsessed with trending sounds and just binge listen on repeat, and then film my own dancing TikToks. They're bad, and most of them never see the light of day, but I have a ton of fun and it basically counts as cardio for the day. Sometimes I like to involve my dog, Harley and my cat, Wade. They are less enthused by the TikTok tunes. Or maybe they just don't know how to dance to "Into the Thick of it" like a pro. Who knows.

Board Games with My Cat

I really don't like people (hence Introvert being a key in this blog title) so when I want to play a board game, I turn to Wade. He's a very worthy opponent. Much more patient and engaged than Harley. Our favourite to play is called Khet which I so lovingly refer to as Laser Chess. The funny part about that is I was looking for a link for you guys and discovered the game is actually discontinued and a new version has been released at some point and it's literally called Laser Chess. Anyways, it's also digitally available on Steam which is pretty cool with 3D controls apparently?

Damn, did I just find a new way to play with a more worthy opponent? I guess we'll see!! I call it Laser Chess specifically because it's a two player strategy based game on a board, but with LASERS! WHOA! So now you see why I play with Wade. He's got his eye on the prize and he doesn't fuck around, as you can see here;
Reading

Is it just a me thing, or does anyone else read in phases? I will sit down for a week and do nothing else but stick my nose in a book and then I'll like, snap out of it and actually get some work done for a day or a month and then I repeat the cycle again. I've read 3.5 books this summer, all in the span of a single week somewhere in July and I haven't touched a book since. I even spent several days downloading books for my kindle and organizing a Summer (more like rest of the year) Reading List.

My go to books are YA Fantasy, specifically because I have a short attention span, and more importantly I have desires for Fae Males. Who gave them the AUDACITY?! You know? LOL. Maybe it's just an iykyk kinda scenario. FYI the 3.5 books I've read so far are The Cruel Prince, The Wicked King, and The Queen of Nothing of the Folk of the Air series by Holly Black, and The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss.

One Time I Went Out...

Okay barely. I mean I did leave my own house, but I went to a friend's house and we played on the Switch for several hours. I definitely crushed them playing Smash Bros thanks to best bud Kirby. I will always play him and then just button mash. It's a flawless strategy. We also played Mario Party, which is probably one of my favourite games. Instead of running a course we just played through the mini games. My absolute favourite one is the steak flipping game, I think it's called Sizzling Stakes, and I DOMINATE at it okay!!!! My second favourite mini game is Rattle and Hmm because it's literally a vibrating recognition game and I've never been defeated by a man on that game... if you know what I mean...

After that fun social experience, I went home and immediately added a Switch to my Amazon Wishlist so I can play by myself from now on. Support my introvert lifestyle please; buy me a Switch LOL! I'm mostly joking. I mean it's there for a reason but I also have a ton of cheaper little things I need for cosplay or fun and I mean, my birthday IS next month if you feel like spoiling me...

Therapy

Ending on a heavy note? Well I guess that's up to perspective. Something new I started this summer was online therapy! I've been highly anxious for as long as I can remember, but more and more recently I simply struggled with motivation and finding my "purpose" in life. On top of past traumas, it was just time to sit down and sort it all out. I spent some time researching how I wanted to do this, and ended up finding Online-Therapy* which allows me to message daily with my therapist AND has a self guided Workbook with worksheets I can fill out and get feedback and responses from my therapist as well.

Once a week we book a live session and I find that so helpful to work through specific issues I'm facing or asking questions I can't yet answer myself. It has been only one month on this program and the relief and excitement I already feel is incredible. Without going into all my problems, I just wanted you guys to know that I've been processing a lot of personal stuff and it truly is making me feel like a better person.

Wow, for an introvert I sure talk a lot. I hope you found this exciting or at the very least, an enlightening look into my lil life! What have you been doing this summer? Have you been going out and exploring now that restrictions are lifting? Are you staying home wary? I'd love to hear what you've been up to! Drop a comment here! Thanks for reading today! I was pretty nervous to share this, but I'm trying to be more transparent about my life and goings on. It might not seem that crazy at a glance, but from a gal who keeps her personal life locked up, this feels like a lot! OKAY, AWKWARD GOODBYE, HAVE A GREAT DAY, LOVE YOUUUU.

Glad the therapy is helping you, you'd never think you struggled with motivation with all the work you produce just shows how we don't see the whole picture behind the public face.
Hope you do get to meet that someone special as you so deserve to find happiness.
