Anastasia Cosplay SkyCostume Review

10/18/2016

I received a gorgeous Anastasia gown from SkyCostume for review, and I'd love to share my thoughts with you! Click Read More for all the details, videos and gifs you could want!
My first thoughts on this exchange was that I honestly thought it was a scam. There was a huge language barrier that made communication a little confusing, and then about half way through our emails, my outgoing messages were being returned because the email address failed permanently.

The last email was sent August 6th, and with my short attention span, I had easily forgotten about it. I returned home from my Edmonton trip for the Expo (September 24-26) and a package was waiting for me! I thought someone had got me something from my Amazon Wishlist, but it was this gorgeous costume! Watch my first thoughts below as I open the package.
It was pretty fun to open, but I got shy and didn't want to record myself on camera, speaking in the dress. Next video. I'm slowly getting out of my comfort zone!

Package contents: White gloves, clear straps, packing slip, and blue dress with attached sparkly cape.

The first time wearing the dress felt so nice. It's always a relief when you order something online and it fits. The lining was really smooth and is almost the full length of the dress. The velvet has some stretch to it which makes it really comfortable.

The first thing that stood out to me was how much bigger in the chest it seemed to be. I had to take in the sides to properly fit. Thank gosh for the clear plastic straps! The dress has hooks on the inside that the straps hook on to.

The second thing that stood out, was that the glove material was very see through. It didn't feel glamorous and you could see all the seams underneath.

The third thing that stood out, was my feet - the dress was too short! The dress cut just above my ankles, so we had to get creative with the photo shoot, but you can see what I mean in this gif below.

From the website: This costume costs $159.99 currently on the site, with the option of getting a custom fit for an additional price. It has a size chart under the photos as well to give you a rough fit estimate.

The size I ordered is highlighted on the size chart below (click to zoom in). My current body measurements are as follows:
Height: 67"
Chest: 38"
Waist: 32"
Hip: 42"

So with that knowledge, the dress is definitely too short for the indicated height. The dress is supposed to be floor length and should hide my feet. The chest being too big could be an oversight on my part, but it was an easy fix. The whole costume fit a bit big, so if you were to order from the site, I would recommend the smaller size if you were inbetween sizes.
Overall Thoughts ★★★★☆ (4/5)

Site Navigation ★★★★★ (5/5)
The site is very clean, easy to read, and easy to navigate.

Shipping ★★☆☆☆ (2/5)
It took just under two months to arrive. It wasn't a custom order, so this was quite a while in my opinion. I also didn't receive a tracking number, or email that the costume had shipped!

Quality ★★★★☆ (4/5)
The velvet felt so nice when I opened the package. It was lined nicely, it provided clear straps just in case, and the cape was a delightful material with just the right amount of sparkle. It was very comfortable to wear, not too hot, not too clingy.

Cost ★★★★☆ (4/5)
The material is absolutely magnificent, the sewing quality is really good. A few of the sequins were coming off, but it's hardly noticeable on the scale of the cape. $159.99 is a very fair price.

Accuracy ★★★★☆ (4/5)
The costume is so spot on, I'm just really upset that it was too short! But everything matches Anastasia from the movie. I provided the jewelry, shoes, and wig myself.
This was a fantastic opportunity and a great costume to review. Head over to SkyCostume to get your own high quality cosplay for your next convention.

Although this costume was sent to me free for review, all thoughts in the above blog are 100% my own.
