I was up early and over to Danielle's so she could help me get ready and restlye my wig. For how excited I was, I was actually extremely nervous for wearing my cosplay to a convention. Even after doing a makeup test earlier in the week, we still managed to run late on our way. I blame Carley and her cuteness.
After we found parking, and finally found registration, we started our overwhelming tour of all the buildings. I was looking forward to meeting a few new friends I had been talking to online for a while. It's always nice to put a real face and a voice to a name. We ran into one friend really quickly who was working at the convention. We chatted quickly and then we did a first loop of artist alley. Does anyone ever really see anything the first time they walk through artist alley?! I didn't remember much until I could do a second and third loop later on.
We wandered down to the shopping area where all the booths were set up, and I stumbled upon Gladzy Kei! I took a picture of her Gijinka Battle Armor Toothless, with Liui Aquino as Hiccup! I was in love with her progress photos of Toothless, so when I saw her, I had to snap a pic!
We did a slow loop around the booths, and took some pictures of cosplayers, and got my picture taken - what a cool feeling, although I was totally awkward. Someone even "caught" me in their pokeball!
We went to a Lolita fashion show. The outfits were so amazing! I didn't get in pics because the lighting was bad and I was in a bad spot. I met up with Danielle again after in the courtyard where it seems EVERYONE was hanging out! It was kinda epic. I found a battle armor Venasaur to take a picture with, and I ran into Dave! While we were wandering the courtyard in the sunshine, we did a mini photoshoot, because I wanted something to show for all my hardwork. I wanted to show my cosplay in action!
On our way back to Artist Alley, we stopped to take a picture of Carley at her first convention with some awesome cosplayers as Kili and Fili!
When we got back to artist alley I could actually focus on the art and ended up buying quite a few prints! My favorites being by Johnni Kok, battle princesses!
Danielle left shortly after, so I downsized my costume for comfort. I went "Casual Ninetales" and met up with another internet friend. We hung out and chatted and went to the Anime Music Video Contest. I understand now why this is the biggest event of the convention. It was so perfect, and amazing. My favorite being a Death Note and Taylor Swift mashup by Tigrin!
Riley came and picked me up and I was so happy to go home and take off my makeup. ;)
Now that the Ninetales and Animethon craze is over, it's time to buckle down and finish up cosplays for Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo!
You can read about my Bombshell Harley Quinn and Mad Rabbit production in future posts! Stay tuned for that, and to read about my experience at ECEE 2015.
And don't forget to read about the making of Ninetales in my previous post!
