When I discovered Livin the Dream Cosplay I was blown away by her talent and how under-appreciated she was! If you love a creative cosplayer with a huge sense of community, she's a must follow. Read her full interview below!
Hello everyone!! I am Livin The Dream Cosplay and my preferred pronouns are She/Her. Welcome to Breezeeweezee’s #featurefriday blog! I’m super excited for you to get to know a little more about me and my cosplay journey!
How and when did you get into cosplay?

Like plenty of cosplayers, I would say my deep-seated love of dressing up at Halloween was the gateway into cosplay. I wore my first cosplay (outside of halloween) to a comic expo in 2018. Everyone I met was so friendly and encouraging! I got to see so many amazing, creative cosplayers and I was completely hooked!

How did you come up with your cosplay name?

Livin The Dream was my instagram handle before I made a cosplay specific page, so it was a natural progression to use the same name for my cosplay page!

What do you do when you're not in cosplay or geeking out?

I have a full time job, so when I’m not crafting or sewing I love hanging out with my husband in the mountains or chilling at home gaming with our cat BG (bee-gee) short for Bat Girl!

What is your proudest cosplay accomplishment?

Ohhh this is a hard one…. I think being asked to attend a birthday party in my Merida cosplay (pre-covid times) was a huge honour for me. I am not a professional party princess, but it was a super fun experience to be able to share a bit of magic with the birthday girl and her friends!

Who is your cosplay idol/inspiration?

I look up to SO MANY other makers in the community! I’m super grateful for all the creatives out there who share their techniques and process @Tockcustoms @paisleyandglue @msmajorsam and @kamuicosplay have been a huge influence in my ambition to try new sewing and crafting techniques and different materials! There are literally endless inspirational creatives on Instagram and YouTube, I get inspired everyday but the other peoples work!

What is your dream cosplay? Why haven't you made it yet?

Sansa Stark’s coronation dress from Game of Thrones is my ultimate dream cosplay….. one day!
How do you feel about holiday themed cosplays? Have you done any before? Explain.

I love seeing people’s creativity shine when it comes to holiday themed cosplays! Often you get to take a little more creative license with a character and it’s so exciting to see what people do. I just did a Holiday Jessica Rabbit cosplay for Christmas 2020. (complete with a sequin mask!) (pictured below)

Do you have any cosplay or convention pet peeves?

The cost of admission? LOL

Do you have any horror stories or mistakes you've made that others can learn from?

Body paint + all-day convention = melting blue goo lady……

I try and post as many of my work in progress pictures on my Instagram as I can. My aim is to share tips and tricks along the way.

Do you have any tips or words of encouragement for other cosplayers?

Everyone starts somewhere! Cosplay is for everyone and the best way to learn is trial and error! Don’t let the fact that you don’t know how to do something stop you from giving it a go!

Do you have anything else you want to say, or add to this interview?

A huge thank you to you and the rest of the cosplay community for their support and encouragement! Also I’m super grateful for all the makers out there who share their techniques and process with everyone, @Tockcustoms @paisleyandglue @kamuicosplay and @punishprops have been a huge influence in my ambition to try new sewing and crafting new things!
