The struggle is real; you spend 15 minutes every day trying to figure out what to post, if it'll do well, or if you're shadowbanned. I can't help you get un-shadowbanned, but I can help you quickly plan content ideas to save you a ton of time each day! Read on below!
This blog is a quick read through, with visual examples from WONDERFUL cosplayers in our community. Use this as a guide, make a schedule, or just retain the info in your brain for a rainy day! I've outlined this in a weekly format, using hashtags or keywords to use throughout the week. Small Disclaimer: this is highly framed around my own fandoms. Feel free to use your own creative freedom and some hashtag research to find what works for you! Ready? Lessgo!
With 59.5k posts, it's a good mid-range hashtag to get your content on for exposure. Plus, if you're like me, you probably have a lot of Marvel content waiting to be shared!
TIP: Tag @marvel to expand your reach to anyone looking through their tagged posts. Tagging accounts isn't just hoping to be featured or noticed by senpai, it can be an extra way to be seen!
This hashtag has a modest 28.6k posts meaning your post will be seen in the recent tab for a few days rather than a few minutes compared to the popular tags! Look at this GORGEOUS example of @lovely.leaundra I found under the hashtag! (PS her whole page is exceptional and an instant follow from me!)
Either in your stories or right on your feed, it's a great way to show more love to the male cosplayers in our community! This is most commonly done on Wednesdays for #WomanCrushWednesday, but I felt I'd rather highlight the men for this article. You can also incorporate a non-binary share day as well!! WE STAN, AND WE'RE INCLUSIVE!!
TIP: Having your pronouns in your bio is a small thing you can do to help normalize gender preference rather than assumption based on how others present; ESPECIALLY if you're CIS!! It shows you as an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, and that you actually care about other humans.
Do you shoot a lot of TikTok content? Take the opportunity to share it weekly, either on your feed or using the Reels feature. Other hashtags I use are #tiktokcosplay and #cosplayersoftiktok
I love the possibilities for this tag. Show a glow up; show a makeup before and after; show an actual TikTok transition; or my personal favorite, show your transformation dresses!!!! Gosh those are so mesmerizing! Please tag me in them ;)
This is great if you love sharing tips and tricks and helping your fellow cosplayers. I also like the use of #cosplaytips to get cosplay specific tips, which is how I found @winterstarcosplay and her series!
A surprisingly NOT banned hashtag for the lewd crowd. With only 32k posts, you have fairly good odds of being found or gaining traction with this tag. It's also a great opportunity to hit the body positive movement with #bopo #thicc etc.
I learned recently there are a lot of hidden witches in fandoms. You can do a lot with this tag. Or use it to show off your cool crystal collection, an opportunity to show yourself out of cosplay!
With 159k posts, and most of them are knitting or artwork, it's a futile hashtag for hitting your target audience BUT it can still be a great thing to post on Wednesdays and focus on cosplay specific hashtags instead.
This one is great to utilize if you've been cosplaying or shooting content for over a year. Bring back some of your faves from years past!
We love a good body positive, sexy post. Need a tall drink of water after seeing that post? Good. PROMO THAT ONLYFANS BB!! Oh that reminds me. Check mine out here if you want. ;)
Similar to #mancrushmonday, it's simply an opportunity to share the love and appreciation for someone who took the time to draw you! How cool?!
This is one I personally use as a way to boost engagement. They're like mini contests I run with varying challenges or quests for my followers to complete. At a later date I simply choose a random winner for a small reward (usually digital to reduce costs). Giveaways always boost engagement, and it's a great way to do it more often! Pictured below is one of my most recent games!
When's the last time you posted a selfie?! To most cosplayer's dismay, a selfie post usually does better than a professional shot. Bite the bullet and post a selfie in or out of cosplay!
This one just sounds FUN. Use it to post something fun you did recently, or an extra fun cosplay!
TBH the weekend doesn't usually do as well for reach, so save your extra special content for the weekdays.
This was a quick list, or the popular daily options. Hopefully while you read through you scanned your mental cosplay list and slowly put some ideas together for your own page!
#tacotuesday could be a fun post for deadpool content; #newcomicbookday is usually Wednesdays, so use it as an opportunity to post your fave comic character, or suit up and snap a pic with your new comic; #mermaidmonday is another one for Mondays - Monday's are easy for character specific content LOL.
I googled some more so you don't have to;
#tinkerbelltuesday #thorthursday or #thorsday #wonderwomanwednesday #fairyfriday #frodofriday #spidermansaturday #sabrinasunday
You get the idea. Search IG to see if the hashtag will be valuable, or simply make it a recurring theme on your account and get your followers excited with anticipation for the theme! I have another article coming soon that maximizes your content potential ONCE so you don't have to continually re-do makeup after a single shoot!! Stay tuned and thanks for reading!!!!
