#FeatureFriday is back with an amazing cosplayer! Cosmic is very ambitious and full of talent. Read her full interview below. Hello, everyone calls me Claire or Cosmic! I'm an aspiring artist and cosplayer hoping to be big one day! How and when did you get into cosplay? Cosplay for me began at age 11(21 now) with Claire Redfield from Resident Evil(her default Darkside version) being my first. It was a very bad cosplay, but I was obsessed with RE(Resident Evil) and did it anyways. I kind of fell out of RE and cosplay for awhile, but came bsck recently with PASSION. My IG name used to be @Chocolately_Despair , but now it's @Cosmic.Redfield.Cosplay (Name idea from @Sheenah267). "Cosmic" for my love of Steven Universe, "Redfield" for RE, and "Cosplay" is self-explanatory. What do you do when you're not in cosplay or geeking out? Things I enjoy doing other than cosplaying is eating lots of fruit, staying up late(or just not sleeping at all) to play videogames, drawing and painting, and reading fanfictions. I also sell things online @Mystery_Gift_Mew. What is your proudest cosplay accomplishment? Proudest cosplay accomplishment is making my Z whacker in 3 days total as my first solo prop with no tutorial, and getting it signed by Anastasia Baranova (She plays Addison Carver in Z Nation). Her IG is @Annyawesome What cosplay(s) are you working on right now? Currently I am working on a plethera of cosplay and I'm drowning, but the ones I want to finish first are Sniper Claire Redfield, Manuela Hidalgo, and Peridot. Who is your cosplay idol/inspiration? I don't have a "cosplay idol," but I highly appreciate and admire @sheenah267 @hayacos @fairchildcosplay @madogharry @dr.p21994 and @breezeeweezee. With all the negativity in the cosplay community these days, what's a positive message you would like to enforce and encourage others with? A lot of negative and or disgusting vulgar comments are made on cosplayers boudoir shots- one of the victims also being me. And I just need to say that we are people, not sex objects, and we demand to be treated as such. Boudoir isn't done to help someone finish themselves off, it's a form of self-empowerment and of self-love. At least it is for me. It helps me try learning to love myself. And yo, I'm just trying to live my best damn life. What is your cosplay dream? Cliche, but my cosplay dream is to be "famous" for my cosplays. Just like @breezeeweezee, and @kellykirstein . My first goal now though is 1K followers and currently at 602. What is your favorite convention to attend and why? Honestly, I've not been to a lot of conventions! However I really enjoy Chibi Chibi because it's so small and cute (and free), also I really enjoyed Toy and Geek Fest. I got my Z whacker signed by Anastasia Baranova there! Do you have any cosplay or convention pet peeves? Cosplay pet peeve is when people take photos of me without asking. Like just ask lmao. Chances are I'm gonna say yes, don't be a creep! Do you have any horror stories or mistakes you've made that others can learn from? This is not so much a mistake, but glue man. Especially E600- it's your BFF. Reinforce your props and whatnot with it or else they may break!! Do you have any tips or words of encouragement for other cosplayers? I guess something encouraging is- it's common to be nervous for conventions or self-conscious of your cosplays because "oh ____'s is so much better" or whatever. But everyone just do your best. Do what you can with what you are given and I promise that you can always improve in time. Just do your best, but most importantly always make sure you're having fun! Cosplay is suppose to make you feel GOOD!!! Where can we find you on all things social? I think y'all should follow my IG. @Cosmic.Redfield.Cosplay What a great interview! Help her reach her goals and give her a follow. <3

I found her comments in regards to boudoir photos interesting if not naive. As an aspiring artist I am sure she understands that art is subjective and some people may love her work and others may not. We approach art with our own biases and baggage (both good and bad) when we interpret art. So when you share a boudoir photo you can't ignore the message that some people may read into it. It is awesome when someone is empowered by their boudoir images but we open ourselves up as soon as we share them. Unfortunately boudoir is inherently sexy so to demand to not be treated like sex objects is a bit hypocritical. I am not saying that vulgar and rude comments are ok, I am just saying don't be so shocked. As an artist you take risks everyday, you need to accept that others will interpret your art differently than you intend; that difference is actually what makes us diverse and creative. The cosplay culture needs to support each other but we can't be offended when outsiders misinterpret a half naked pic as sexy and "finish themselves off" to it...
