#FeatureFriday with Marie Sturges

Today we're continuing with the Cosplay and Comics theme, with another page model, Marie Sturges. She is stunning and so creative. Read below to find out all about her!

How and when did you get into cosplay?
When I first stepped foot into the cosplay community, it was actually as a photographer and not as a cosplayer. Very soon after, I began cosplaying as well because I enjoyed the people in the cosplay community, and my boyfriend had already been cosplaying. I wanted to join in on the fun!

What do your friends and family think of your hobby?
My family is supportive of it and they love to ask me questions about what it’s like and how it works! A lot of my friends are cosplayers though, so I imagine that they’re pretty supportive of it as well. :)

What do you do when you're not in cosplay or geeking out?
When I’m not in cosplay, you can find me as a product and portrait photographer or (more recently), walking around the neighborhood playing Pokemon Go!

What has your experience been like as a Cosplay and Comics page model?
Nate (the owner of the page) and the other pages models have been very supportive! It’s nice to know that I have a cosplay family to go to when I’m unsure about something or want a second opinion. I love being a part of such an amazing page!

How do you choose your next cosplay?
Most of the time, I don’t really think about what character I want to be next. I usually add something to my list if I’m watching or playing a game, and a character that looks really cool or is someone that I can relate to is introduced. I then know immediately if I want to be that character!
What is your dream cosplay?
I have a lot of “dream” cosplays, but the ones I dream the most about are those involving heavy armor builds, such as Halo armor or a crazy Pokemon gijinka.

What is holding you back from making your dream cosplay becoming a reality?
The lack of experience, knowledge, and especially time!

What is your favorite convention to attend?
I love attending WonderCon!

What is your dream convention to attend?
I’ve always wanted to go to Dragon Con, which happens to be located in my home state. I’m all the way in California now, so it’s not quite as easy for me to attend.

Do you have any cosplay or convention pet peeves?
It drives me crazy when a convention is extremely crowded with no crowd control. Because of this, it’s usually very hot and stuffy and it’s hard to walk around comfortable in costume with a large weapon.

Do you have any tips or words of encouragement for other cosplayers?
Definitely do your research when it comes to buying materials to make a costume and when commissioning someone for a weapon or part of a costume.

Where can we find you on all things social?
