Today I get the pleasure of interviewing the incredibly humble and spunky Miss Mad Love. Her personal spins on her cosplays adds a unique touch and has given her a memorable brand. Read her full interview below!

How and when did you get into cosplay?
It was all thanks to my awesome geeky boyfriend!  He took me to the local Terror Expo 2016, we also cosplayed at the premiere of The Force Awakens—first experience of a lot of cameras I’ll tell ya that!
He took me to my first comic con before I had social media platforms and everyone was so impressed with my cosplays people asked me if I was professional! Then basically he said, "You'd make an awesome Powergirl!" Once I debuted that it set my cosplay journey on sail!

How did you come up with your cosplay name?
So one of my former coworkers used to call me "Mad Love" because he said I'm always sending positive vibes, hugs, laughter and love. That name stuck out to me most and personally was significant to me as a person instead of my many character variations in cosplay. I thought to add the “Miss” for a personal cute touch.

What do you do when you're not in cosplay or geeking out?
OOooo a lot! Hahah I’m an inside sales representative, so I do all the account management for my outside sales reps. Bartender on the weekends, Netflix TV shows are always great to catch up on! I collect Pop-Dolls…. Like religiously. Star Wars is my true geek love, so you see plenty of Vaders in my room. I enjoy painting and sketching as well! I’m addicted to dancing around my house or when I’m walking around in stores or running errands. #noshame And let’s be honest Who doesn’t love singing in the shower???

What is your proudest cosplay accomplishment?
Oh man definitely Lady Thor!!! I wanted to do a cross design between the comics Lady Thor and Avengers Thor, plus Mad Love Twist!

What cosplay(s) are you working on right now?
Currently just finished Punk Storm and Rapunzel….I’m finishing up my Pin-Up/Punk Sailor Moon!! I love Sailor Moon this one is taking a little longer but I can’t even describe how excited I am for this cosplay debut!!!!!! :D

Who is your cosplay idol/inspiration?
Goshhh that’s a hard one…..okay I have a couple but I’ll say why!
Omgcosplay is like my Woman Crush Everyday just cause she’s so fun, real, honest and out there like me and I had hardly met any other cosplayers who were like me. The other ones I came across took it way too seriously and never smiled like….What the heck?

Hendoart is another favorite because every character she brings to life she performs so well! She’s like Pixar, she’s always able to capture her audience in an impressive way!
What is your dream cosplay?
Oh my goodnessssss I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to cosplay as Maleficent!! Gown, staff cheekbones and all!!! <3
Something about how the classics I’ve always loved and the new one captured a lot of hidden emotions from her. She has no fear and personally I can relate.

What is your favorite convention to attend?
Recently just attended Dallas Fan expo and that really blew my mind!
Gotta represent Alamo City Comic Con though, my home ☺

What is your dream convention to attend?
I do want to travel to a Wizard World con I’ve heard Thor attends….*Faints*
Also of course NYCC, SDCC, and hopefully the one in Orlando Florida
AHHHH I NEED TO GO TO A STAR WARS CELEBRATION!!! My heart hurt missing this one T^T

Do you have any horror stories or mistakes you've made that others can learn from?
Yes, I mean we all do we’re not perfect. Always remember who you are (hahaha Lion King quote I just now realized) Never be afraid to be different, if people can’t accept how awesome you are, don’t ever let that tear you down.

Also always bring Gorilla Glue to comic cons you never know what might fall off! I accidently stepped on this girl’s Dragon tail at San Japan and tore a tiny bit off and I said, “Have no fear, Gorilla glue is here!” She was very appreciative and so always come to comics cons prepared like Mary Poppins, trust me you’ll thank me later.

Do you have any cosplay or convention pet peeves?
Yes I hate it when I’m wearing a corset and my shoes need fixing and I feel like a solid cardboard that can’t bend over because my insides are restricted from the mighty corset! Beauty is Pain right?

When my eyes get watery and my mascara or eyeliner in the corner of my eyes start to smudge!

Or when you’re rushing everything to set up for your booth and forget to eat and food costs an arm and a leg that you’d rather spend on Comic Art, so you just internally willow in misery with a smile! XD

Do you have any tips or words of encouragement for other cosplayers?
Yes !! Ladies Gents, boy and girls. Do not let ANYONE prevent you from doing what you love. Jessica Nigri told me herself “You have to learn to not give a ****, and be who YOU are. No one else!
And guess what ??? I don’t know how to sew, so I get help. So don’t let someone tell you that you have to Make everything to be a cosplayer LOL I like to focus more on making props or accessories and then DESIGNING my cosplays fashion style/look from pieces online that I cannot make. I’m not ashamed to say that and neither should you! If you have be a wizard then go be a Bad Ass Wizard !! If you wanna be Batman then go be Batman!!! :D We live in a society that likes to tear people down or confine them in an area with restrictions. Guess what its YOUR life and YOUR cosplay <3

Do you have anything else you want to say, or add to this interview?
No matter what you do in life make sure you love it and you’re doing it for you. Always be yourself. Don’t try to pretend to be anyone else: cause guess what you weren’t made try and be them. Shine your own awesome self! Live fearlessly, Love always.
