Today we have a super amazing and powerful interview with the stunning Multifluffyness from the Netherlands! Read her encouraging words and full interview below!
Hiiiii ^.^ First off I want to thank Breezeeweezee for giving me the opportunity to do this interview. I am honored. My name is Multifluffyness and I’m a big geek / anime / gaming / cosplay lover. I live in the Netherlands and I am 25 years old. Just a girl that loves to enjoy life and dress up as badass/ geeky characters.

How and when did you get into cosplay?

I started cosplaying like 7/8 years ago. A friend of mine introduced me to this awesome cosplay convention in the Netherlands called Abunai. I knew a lot about conventions in other parts of the world, but I didn’t know we had conventions in the Netherlands! I was so thrilled to go and immediately loved it so much. It felt like my inner nerd was finally home XD

I did quit for about 1,5 / 2 years, due to some really difficult life events. My mom got cancer and I lost my half-sister from my dad’s side. May she rest in peace. This happened all together and it was just a lot to deal with. It took my happiness away and I didn’t feel like myself for a long time. Thank god my mom beat the cancers ass in the end, but it was really close. I thought I was going to lose her and words can’t describe how that feels. Life can be so freaking hard, but I also say: that’s life. It beats you down, but it is up to yourself to get back up again. So I did.

I pulled myself together and start doing what I love again: Cosplaying and inspire others to be themselves and do what they love. So, I think about 1,5 / 2 years ago I started my Instagram and social media journey and here I am now ! I know this was a bit of a dark story, but it also made me who I am and who I am as a cosplayer today. That is why I am sharing it with you <3

How did you come up with your cosplay name?

What a lovely question. I don’t get that one a lot and I love my cosplay name, LOL! I came up with this name right after I saw Agnes from the movie despicable me. Yes, that cute little girl that screams: ‘It’s so fluffy I’m going to die!’’ I fell in love with her and her fluffyness. After this I thought about my cosplays and the multiple characters I do. I just had to put multi from multiple together with fluffiness and a name was born. Besides that, I have very fluffy hair, so the name just fits me perfectly XD

What do you do when you're not in cosplay or geeking out?

I am a big fan of martial arts! In my free time I like to be a ninja I love martial arts tricking and I have been doing it for about 7 years now. I don’t think a lot of you know what tricking is? Tricking is a training discipline that combines kicks ( Karate, Taekwondo) with flips and twists from gymnastics as well as many dance moves and styles from break dancing or capoeira. It aims to achieve an aesthetic display of different combinations of "tricks". Sounds easy right? You should look it up on YouTube ^.^

Besides tricking, I absolutely love kickboxing. I don’t do competition, because I don’t like to get punched in the face XD I don’t think anyone likes that a lot, but for me this sport is about body control and movement. It is an awesome cardio workout and good for learning to defend yourself. And come on it is perfect for cosplay! If I am cosplaying a badass like Wonderwoman or Chun-li I want to be able to kick and fight like them as well!

What is your proudest cosplay accomplishment?

To learn to make my own cosplays. I never thought I would be able to do that… When I just started with cosplay I bought them. Nothing wrong with that of course! Cosplay is for everyone, bought or self-made that doesn’t matter! For me it was like ok, I am creative person, but I never touched a sewing machine in my life! How do I do this… Well, I just started. There is no wisdom there.

If you want something you got to start doing it. 2 years ago, I started with asking my friend @linda_chups to explain the basics to me and I watched lots of YouTube videos. After this I just bought fabrics and went for it. Made lots of mistakes, but that’s ok. You can’t expect everything to be perfect, just enjoy your learning process. I am so happy that I am getting better and better it. Still got so much to learn, but I am looking forward to it!

What cosplay(s) are you working on right now?

I am working on Demon hunter Valla from the game Heroes of storm (Diablo crossover). Such a freaking huge challenge for me, but I need to cosplay that character! I spend so many hours playing as demon hunter. This year it will finally happen! I am working together with an amazing cosplayer, person and friend called: @sakuraflorr , who will be cosplaying Johanna from heroes of storm. She is an absolute inspiration to me and I am so thankful I am working on this big project with her. We are planning on getting this project done this year & maybe even join a competition. Which will be my first competition ever! Really excited about that!

Who is your cosplay idol/inspiration?

Jessica Nigri OFCOURSEEEE!!! Mariah Mallad and Darshelle Stevens. I have like so many more people who inspire me, but then this interview would take days to finish! These 3 amazing, beautiful, cosplay ladies are just such an inspiration to me. Jessica nigri for being so talented and humble about it. For always making me laugh with her video’s and weirdness. You go girl! She is just an example for me. You can see that she loves being a nerd and her cosplays are insane! I have nothing but respect for her.

Mariah Mallad is a girl that inspires me to be proud of myself and my curves. I love how she shows off her beautiful, curvy body and is just herself. She has done so many amazing cosplays and shoots. Such goals!!!!! Darshelle stevens is such a beautiful cosplayer and her shoots are just so freaking amazing. She really inspires me to work hard on the sets I release every month. She is really kind & I just really appreciates what she gives back to the community.

With all the negativity in the cosplay community these days, what's a positive message you would like to enforce and encourage others with?

Do what makes you happy. I know there is so much hate going and it really freaking sucks. Excuse my language. I think we should all learn from each other, work with each other and spread way more positivity! Don’t spread negativity or jealousy. It really bothers me that people get mad because someone is cosplaying the same character, is doing lewd or nudes, got big boobs, if the cosplays isn’t screen accurate, compare cosplays to one another, hate on a cosplayer who is popular, is doing a character that doesn’t fit their body type or skin color. WHO THE HELL CARES!!!

Cosplay is for everyone and I can’t stress that enough. I get so many questions with: don’t you think it is stupid what this cosplayer does, don’t you think she is too naked. Have you heard this, how can you support that? Honestly, I am a really positive person and I like people to be the best version of themselves. I absolutely love cosplay and the cosplayers I meet online or in real life. I am happy for those who feel good about their body. I am happy for those who decide to do lewds and who decide to do not. Everybody is entitled to do their own thing. I am happy if I see a page grow, I am happy for other women when they strive to be their best and do what they love. Stop comparing yourself to others, be kind, be humble, spread positivity and just do your own thing!

What is your dream cosplay?

Demon hunter!!!! Finally started this project as you know from one of the previous questions. Can’t wait to wear her. It feels surreal to start on this project. She as been my dream cosplay for as long as I can remember!

What is your favorite convention to attend and why?

Animecon and Abunai. I always go to these 2 cosplay conventions! Can’t miss out on them, since all my friends and so many amazing cosplayers are attending this convention. It is always so much fun to catch up with everyone and get inspired by all the beautiful cosplays. I always go back home so sad that it is over, but with lots of inspiration for next year! I have to be honest I am very curious towards convention outside of the Netherlands. So maybe my favorite will change once I start traveling outside of the Netherlands to other conventions. Any good suggestions?

Do you have any horror stories or mistakes you've made that others can learn from?

Watch out with glue guns or heat guns. Those things burn your fingers. Wear protective gloves XD Maybe it is just me, but those things hate me!

Another thing I want to warn you from is that if you are on a convention, no one has the right to touch you somewhere you don’t want to! Yes, that means photographers too!! I worked with many photographers and I came across a few that just out of nowhere put their hand on my lips. Said things like you have to hold them a little bit open and bend over… It is not a porno ok! It is perfectly normal for you to say: ‘No I don’t want to do that’. If he can’t respect that walk away! Protect yourself and you are never in the wrong if you say no to someone that wants to touch you in a way you don’t want to! Your body, so your rules!

Do you have any tips or words of encouragement for other cosplayers?

Go for it. If you love cosplay then show your awesome self. Don’t apologize for yourself or put yourself down with: my body does not look good, it is fat, it is too thin. I am ugly, she is beautiful and I could never pull that off, someone else did that cosplay already, I am afraid people will laugh. You are perfect just the way you are and I hope you will show yourself out there. You deserve to be seen and to cosplay what you love.

I know people can be really mean. I get comments on how I should lose weight or being too fat. Pay them no mind. People who put other people down are hurting themselves. If you are happy and feel good, you don’t want others to feel down. You want to surround yourself with loving and happy people. People who are negative are probably hurting on the inside. Which is sad, but it is also up to them to change this way of thinking and behavior. It is important you are happy with yourself and don’t let other opinions hurt you. I know it is difficult, but I believe in you!

Do you have anything else you want to say, or add to this interview?

I really want to thank everyone who is always supporting me. I appreciate it so much and you can’t even imagine how much your messages are making me smile throughout the day! Thank you all for that so much. Sending love and happiness <3

Last but not least I want to thank the love of my life. Some of you probably know him as: Kenjico. My own personal photographer. My love always supports me in everything I do and I think that deserves a shout out for his work too! He has so many great talents and you should really check it out :3 https://www.instagram.com/kenji.cyes/ & https://www.instagram.com/kenjico_/
