My Expectations for Emerald City ComicCon 2017

This will be my first year attending this convention, and to be honest, it's a lot of firsts for me, and I'm a little nervous! This will be a short blog today since I'm in the middle of con crunch, but I just wanted to jot down a few notes of what I expect or predict it will be like! It will be fun to come back from the con next week and compare notes.
I moved to BC over the summer last year and that put me in a position farther away from my favorite cons in Alberta, but closer to Seattle, which holds tons of conventions a year. It's only a 5 hour drive which makes it closer than driving back home!

I will be meeting an American friend in Seattle, which means I have to drive into the states (across the border!) by myself! I don't really know why I'm so nervous. I guess I just don't have the comfort of another person to relax me. There's always so many 'what ifs' when you're alone.

Reminder: Don't forget your passport.

Luckily, this isn't my first road trip con, since I drove back to Edmonton last year for the Edmonton Expo! So I will be prepared and properly packed. I also have my handy checklist too. (Lifesaver...)

Everyone says ECCC is a huge con - I mean it would be, it hosts the Western Championships of Cosplay (which I did not get accepted into /cry).

The biggest clue for me about how big this convention truly is, was when I saw a post on twitter, about applying for a lottery to get a time slot to be able to line up to get into the Funko Pop booth. Wait, what?! A lottery to line up... Oh my lord...

Reminder: I don't have spending money anyways. No loss *side eyes all the exclusives...*

There weren't too many panels I was interested in, which is probably a good thing since I imagine there's line ups for those too. I'm excited to just wander the halls, meet new people and take in the convention for all its glory.

Predictions
  • I will probably tire out and get overwhelmed early on.
  • I most likely will rely on Fairchild Cosplay to be my guide even though she hasn't been to a big con in a while either.
  • I'll probably forget to take my Vitamin C and Echinacea and I'll come home with the con crud.
  • I probably will spend more money out of the con (drinks, food etc) than in it.
  • I definitely will forget to take pictures.

Reminder: TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES.

Well I'm excited and nervous, but I'm really hopeful I meet a ton of new people and have an absolute blast in Seattle this coming weekend. If you see me at any time during the weekend, feel free to come chat!
