As a cosplayer, I tend to build and build and build and some costumes unfortunately never get work again. So I've decided to retire a few old cosplays, and this is their tribute post. I've been cosplaying since 2015 and it's been a blur. With almost 20 cosplays completed and more on the way, my tiny closet definitely doesn't have the capacity to hold them. We're taking a look back at four costumes I've decided to retire this year. First up, is the oldest of the bunch, Red Sonja. I never intended to wear her to a con, but it was a cheap cosplay to build (less than $15) and I had the confidence I needed at the time to rock the outfit. I'm happy with how everything turned out, and I'm glad I had a chance to become the She Devil with a Sword. Following in sequence, is Gijinka Psyduck. I'm actually really proud of this cosplay and it has seen two conventions with me. But the cosplay just doesn't look as cute without the bloomers and I don't have the heart to fix them after their disastrous rip at Calgary Expo last year. R.I.P. (see what I did there??) Next up is one of my best known mashups, Korra Kida. I built it to enter the cosplay contest at Eek! Fest last year. A surprising amount of people recognized me as a crossover between Korra the Avatar, and Kida the Disney princess so I felt extremely accomplished and I had the water bending skills to match! I love this cosplay and it's unbelievably comfy, but I don't see myself jumping into it again anytime soon. Finally, we have my Anastasia gown. This was a sponsored cosplay from Sky Costume, and I adore it - except.... it's too short. =( It's a good two inches too short for my body (5'7") and my ankles stick out. I even bought a gorgeous wig and styled it to match. This is a cosplay I'd love to revisit on my own in the future. And that's a short but sweet wrap! All of the costumes listed above are indeed for sale as the photos specify. If you're interested in a costume, send me an email here for prices and additional photos. The costumes will be cross posted throughout the week and I will only be taking offers from my email! Are you clearing out any old costumes this year? Tell me why in the comments!
