I teamed up with We Love Colors recently to do a mystery Halloween Challenge. They sent me three different colors of tights and my challenge was to base a costume around them. Maybe it was an accident, maybe it was fate; but the main costumes I came up with all involve the same base pieces! Read on to find out all about my costumes and how I tackled this challenge. The TightsThe tights were provided by We Love Colors for the purpose of this challenge. The solid colors were extremely comfortable, super soft and stretchy - they could be pulled up over my chest! The striped tights were one size fits all, so it was a squeeze to get in, but they sat comfortably on my hips and didn't roll down or move over time which was super surprising. I was also expecting the color to diminish and fade a bit with the stretch over my thighs, but they stayed just as bright and solid as right out of the package. The OutfitA dark blue skirt paired with a white, button up blouse. If you don't already have these pieces in your closet, they are super easy to find in a thrift store. The SolutionsLet's start with the striped tights. I did hint that I wanted this color specifically because I was dying to recreate Lou's outfit from Me Before You with Emelia Clarke and Sam Clafin. The blue skirt and white blouse was her outfit of choice with the striped tights, so it was relatively easy to recreate. Yellow tights next. I really wanted to do a hipster Belle, but the yellow tights were too bright for what I had in mind, so I decided to attempt hipster Snow White! Using the same base pieces, I added the red belt, and glasses. I thought the outfit looked more house wife than hipster, so I rolled with it and used some fresh baked Pumpkin Muffins as props! This outfit can easily be modified using any combinaton of red, blue, and yellow. Lastly, black tights. If you are somehow finding a hard time using black tights in your costume, I have tons of ideas, but for the purpose of this challenge, I chose Mary Poppins. Add some red ribbon or a bow to your collar, and a hat with flowers to your head, and you have Mary Poppins! Now it's time for the bonus round! There were so many ideas I had for these tights, and I couldn't help but make multiple looks! Striped tights: Spinelli Yellow tights: Hufflepuff How are you using colorful tights this Halloween? Tell me in the comments!
I hope you found this blog post fun and informative. The tights were provided to me for free for the purpose of this review and challenge. All thoughts expressed in this post are my own honest opinion. You can buy your own super soft tights in a variety of colors and patterns from We Love Colors.
